birthday

I make cards for most of my family and friends, this one tended to be influenced from sara and kilgallens work, useing bits of different patterned paper layered and painting over the top, the patterns where cut from shopping bags, samples of wall paper and paper i had collected for a while from magazines.

a random find

came across this when looking at a blog where kilgallen was posted

and took a peak at the rest of his work which is great
cute heads, nature, and a bit of fantacy seem to run throughout
soothing colours and soft, brushed, blended painting or printing make uo the images

gillgallen and fenelli

impressive wall paintings/installations. she drew them straight on without useing a projecter as she prefered the imperfections made by her own hand
"its unhuman to make it perfect"
inspired from american folk

enjoyed making theese photgrammes and want to make more another time. probably a good scourse for collarge and dont have to just be used as a photogramme..cutting them up and rearanging can make good finishes as i illustrated in my scetchbook.

Drawing workshop 3. 26th october

This was a still life that was set up for us

the rope was an area i tended to focus on most in the studies

quite like this photo, shows an interesing reflection and strange composition where the stick looks like its been bent, and a mirror is reflected in another mirror and then theres another reflection involved in the furthest misrror.

i tried useing collarge combined with ink

i thouhgt this one needed some more work, i dont realy like the study as a whole but i like the use of line and rubbing away the charchole where lighter areas appeared

I feel this drawing is lost on the page, but i like the use of brown paper to work on top of and suggest an outline of the rope.
From this excersise i also started to produce little drawings in a booklet type thing and each page the drawing would continue and link throughout which i want to continue with.

Drawing workshop 2. 19th october

This time our task was to bring in 5 favourate objects and draw them from feeling them and closing our eyes, even though we already knew what we were drawing looked like, it made us think about what materials the objects where made out of and the forms. the maks made were much more free and had moovement to them. whereas if you darw things from eye, sometimes the drawing can turn out too focused and the lines are more controlled.
features of the objects were expressed with different appliances of the charchol-thicker heavier lines or soft withery lines, applying variouse pressures.

we also tried cutting out silhouettes of our objects

First drawing exersise workshop. 12th October

at first most of us thought this was a strange exersise-we were just making random things out of plasterscene, wood, pins, leafes ect. useing collage we had to show the forms and textures involved in the object by useing variouse paper materials thinking about the way we cut shapes and layerd different papers to suggest the qualities of the object.
I found this medium quite effective but time consuming, by layering materials over others and contrasting small, fine cut out pieces with areas of torn larger, draker areas became quite a good way of representing the objects.

this is some examples of the rest of the classes pieces

i also tried burning paper to give a brown colour and to suggest an uneven surface

combining ink too

after this task we was advised to look at Margret Kilgallen and Sara Fanelli-some artists who used collage effectivly.
I wanted to try useing found pieces of patternd paper, and combining with other mediums like drawing over the collages, or even photocopying drawings to use as material. so even though i wasnt that pleased with the outcomes i produced some more in my sketchbook
